Step 3: Confirmation of Defense or Mention I

Confirmation of the defense

The defense confirmation form must be completed, signed and emailed ( or ) to your course’s monograph coordinator by 07/06/2024. This deadline is indicated in the department’s monograph calendar for this semester.

O formulário de confirmação de defesa deve ser preenchido, assinado e enviado para a coordenação de monografia do seu curso por e-mail ( ou  ) até 07/06/2024, prazo estipulado no Calendário de Monografia do Departamento para o semestre.

Step 4: Defense

Submission of the Final Project to the Commission

It is the responsibility of the supervisor and/or the supervisee to submit the Final Project to the committee’s reviewers in good time for reading. It is recommended to submit the thesis in digital form if possible and at least 15 days before the defense date.

Defense in person of Final Project

The defense will take place in person on 17/06/2024 and 18/06/2024, the date set in the department’s Final Projects Schedule For the semester.

In the case of in-person defenses, the allocation of times and rooms during the Defense period is the responsibility of the Final Projects coordinator, provided that the confirmation form for the Defense is duly completed and submitted by the deadline.

The date, time, location and members of the panel will be announced by the Final Project coordinators in the agenda for the Defense.

Attention: In cases where the defense takes place outside the period established in the departmental Final Projects calendar, it is the responsibility of the supervisors and advisors to organize the defense (including the provision of premises and means to carry it out) as well as to submit the final version of the thesis by 07/05/2024, the date established in the departmental Final Projects calendar for the semester.

Organization of the online defense

As a rule, defense hearings must be held in person. Exceptional cases, duly justified on the request form for remote defense, will be examined by the coordinators of the Final Projects. If approved, the defense must take place on the ConferenceWeb RNP platform as much as possible. It is important that the link to participate in the videoconference is published in advance in the Defense agenda.

In these cases, in addition to the confirmation form for the defense, the remote defense request form, duly completed and signed by the supervisor, must be sent to the monograph coordination of the respective course.

Completion of the Defense Minute

It is the responsibility of the supervisor and/or student to complete the relevant items in the Monograph Defense Minutes.

On the day of the defense, the following items must be entered into the minutes:

1. The date;

2. The personal data of the committee members and the student;

3. The subject code (CNM6023 – Economics and CNM7280 – IR);

4. The title of the thesis;

5. The status of the monograph (whether approved or not),

6. The note;

7. Deadline for submission of the final version;

8. The recommendations of the examination committee and

9. The signatures of the advisor, student and participating members.

Attention: The signature of the student and the supervisor must preferably be digital. If the student or supervisor does not have a digital signature from UFSC, it is possible to use the federal government’s signature platform to verify the document.

As a last resort, it is possible to print out the document, sign it and scan it later so that the student can send the document with the signatures of all participants.

Step 5: Post-defense

Handing over the finished Defense protocol

Upon completion of the defense and before the thesis is made available in the repository, the student must submit the Defense Minute to the Final Projects coordination ( or ) untill 05/07/2024, the deadline specified in the department’s Final Projects Schedule for the semester.

Important: It should be noted that a Defense protocol digitally signed by all participants can be used as proof/confirmation of participation at the bank. In this way, those who wish to do so can keep a copy of the file received for verification purposes.

Submission of the final version of the Work

The thesis in its final version must bear the digital signature of the supervisor on a special page for this purpose (available in the monograph model) and must be submitted by the student to the UFSC Digital Repository by 05/07/2024, the deadline established in the departmental monograph calendar for the semester.

Once the Final Project has been accepted in the repository, the Final Projects coordination will post the note in the system.

Instructions for the final version

1. Follow the Final Projects template

The general rules for creating a monograph that complies with UFSC standards can be found at http://portal.bu.ufsc.br/normalizacao/. Pay attention only to the first few pages so that they follow the template (which includes the Supervisor digital signature).

2. Insert the catalog form into the final version.

To do this, visit http://ficha.bu.ufsc.br/

3. After you have standardized the work according to the rules and have the catalog form, send it to the supervisor so that he can digitally sign page 4 of the model.

4. Send the already signed PDF file to the UFSC Institutional Repository (https://repositorio.ufsc.br/).

The steps for submission can be found at  https://www.repositorio.ufsc.br/manuais/ and in the Manual de Submissão de TCC .
